Upon the death of George Pullman in 1897, Robert Lincoln, son of Abraham and Mary Lincoln, became president of the Pullman Company. Until the 1960s, Pullman porters were exclusively Black, and have been widely credited with contributing to the development of the Black middle class in America… We belong to the American Legion Post #13 in Vermont and are members of Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home in Manchester, Vermont. Arranging an impressive cheese board begins with shopping for artisanal cheese, but deciding what cheese to buy can be challenging. The ideal cheese board will consist of cheese varying from soft to semi-hard, and finally hard cheeses. However, a creative cheese board will include berries, bite-sized bread, crostinis, crackers, Crudités, dried and fresh fruits, grapes, herbs, nuts, olives, preserves, and other spreads, sun-dried tomatoes, and table décor… We shop at Capri Imports, Cardona’s Mkt., Gabriel’s Supermarkets, Guido’s Fresh Marketplace, and The Cheese Traveler for gourmet cheeses…
Dan Di Nicola is credited with launching the career of Rachael Ray, and others… A Pittsfield-born first-generation Sicilian American, DiNicola rose to become a respected high school teacher of Russian literature, film critic, and three-time Emmy Award-winning reporter for WRGB CBS6 as well as a veteran reporter for the Daily Gazette—both for 28 years… I laugh, because from 1988 to 1994, I lived in the Berkshire Mountains, for a time in the same duplex as the only neighbor of Dan’s niece, Renee Di Nicola—a Godly woman, and piano teacher.
